A few years ago when I went to Costa Rica I’d planned to take a tour to a volcano. Circumstances changed and I had to cancel the tour. I was so disappointed that I didn’t get to see a volcano while I was there. But, as luck would have it, I had a window seat on the plane ride home and flew over not one, but four different smoking volcanoes! I got a fantastic view that I wouldn’t have had on my tour. I still want to go back, though, and see the volcanoes from the ground.
Have you visited a volcano?
Smokin’ view! 🙂
What an excellent shot!
Thanks. I wish the plane would have slowed down so I could have snapped even more. 😉 I took quite a few.
This is on our list. With a 6yo, volcanos are obviously the coolest things ever! (Of course they’re not literally cool and you’d have to be careful to take safety into consideration…)
My inner 6yo (and outer 40yo) agree — volcanoes are the coolest things ever.
I have trekked into a crater in Santorini. But it didn’t look half as spectacular!
Reminds me of a blogger friend’s perfect photo of a snow capped mount Fuji from her plane without ever having stepping foot in Japan, when I had zilch after two weeks there! 🙂
Haha. Sometimes we luck out on planes. I couldn’t believe I saw four from my window and they were all smoking! I certainly didn’t expect that.
Oh my !! How lucky is that !!
I know! A reminder to always ask for a window seat.
Cool! And…such a cute title!!!
Thanks. 🙂
I hiked Mt. Vesuvius in Italy. Yes, you won’t have the same view as that. View-wise I’d prefer the aerial. You got lucky, esp. you won’t have that complete disappointment. But it’s good to there on the ground as well.
My daughter wants to hike Mt. Vesuvius. We may have to try to, though if it’s smoking, I’ll hightail it to the airport!
Great consolation prize that Julie! Mount Teide in Tenerife is my only claim to volcano fame.
Yep, I’ve visited many volcanoes – as far north as Iceland, as far south as New Zealand. Let me know if you need some ideas.
By the way, I ran across your blog via blogsurfer. I’ll look for some sort of subscription so I can check out new posts.
I’m so glad you wandered by! I’d love to see the volcanes in Iceland. It’s high on my list of places to go.
